Best File Hosting Websites

A common problem:

I’m creating a website for my friend’s photography business. She is going to buy the domain and everything, but I’m wondering… What is the best place to buy a domain from? What about web host? I’m thinking about GoDaddy… And should I ask her to purchase an FTP program, as well, or are there any free programs out there? Is FTP a necessity? I have experience with HTML and FTP, but I’ve never had my own domain, so that’s where I’m a bit confused. Any tips or info would be greatly appreciated.

OK well i need a free web host, i need FTP, SSI, at least ½ GB of space (maybe a little less), CGI would be nice but not necessary (same with PHP). Oh, It has to not force you to use it’s WYSIWYG editor for pages (encountered that problem with synthasite)…if there is no such site please answerso that I don’t just go on wondering. Hello!

I have a small web design company. I offer my clients the whole deal, I setup everything for them because these are mostly small businesses that don’t have much web knowledge.

So I setup the hosting, e-mails, design a website and upload it, I do everything, so they don’t have to know anything about cpanel, ftp, e-mail etc.

So far I’ve been using a hosting company that I’m not satisfied with anymore, especially their support.

I am now looking for a hosting company that would offer me hosting of approximately 100 websites on one account.

Can someone please suggest any hosting company. Any suggestions would be very appreciated.
